A web overhaul founded on user discovery and built for iterative improvement

The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) engaged Digital Wave® in 2017 to help with an overhaul of their web presence, to better serve their users, and to set the stage for continual improvement of both public and portal sites. The project was founded on comprehensive stakeholder and user discovery which we iterated on throughout, working with the ABOG communications and IT teams to create more engaging content, simplify their maintenance of certification (MOC) management, and convert numerous frozen PDF documents into web-friendly content. We also supported their team with internal communications such as presenting new approaches to their Board of Directors, introducing content procurement and tracking tools and processes, and leading staff training. ABOG co-presented with us at American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Conference 2018 to share with similar organizations how user discovery shaped their project focus.

Our collaboration with ABOG has touched on:

  • Content strategy
  • Content development process definition and implementation
  • Comprehensive discovery
  • User acceptance testing
  • Content author training and workshops
  • Full microsite development and launch
  • Design and asset creation
  • Ongoing support

In my experience, “user experience (UX)” projects have been moderately effective and rarely involved the group that the name implies – users. Digital Wave worked with us and a significant number of our stakeholders to deliver a new user interface that is responsive, revitalizes the ABOG brand, and is intuitive to our community.
